Advocacy Seminar Series
Sangam has a series of Seminars to be held at our World Centre during 2007& 2008. Each Seminar will develop skills in Advocacy and will be linked with a particular theme area. The Seminars will run over seven days and although intensive training is planned, time will be allowed to enjoy, learn and share international Guiding/ Scouting and the Indian culture.
The Seminars will explore the WAGGGS triennial theme and its Key Focus area of Advocacy. You will learn about issues facing society in the 21st century, examine campaigns being conducted in, and be empowered to return home and be an advocate in your country.
Dates and topics are:Advocacy Seminar: Trafficking of Girls and Women
February 4 - 10, 2007
Examine the problems surrounding trafficking of girls and young women in Asia. Learn how NGO’s in this field are working towards alleviating the problem. Visit social organizations in Pune advocating for girls and young women and develop the advocacy skills to make a difference in your country.
Advocacy Seminar: HIV/AIDS in Today’s World
December 2 -8, 2007
Learn the facts and develop your advocacy skills in dealing with one of the most threatening diseases in the world: HIV/AIDS. Learn how WAGGGS is involved in educating about the prevention of HIV/AIDS and how Girl Guides and Girl Scouts are promoting change. Acquire valuable education techniques and advocacy methods so you can make a difference.
Explore health issues facing young people around the world. Visit local social organizations to learn about the work being done in India, and share your experience with participants from many nations. Use the topic as a foundation for developing the skills of Advocacy - analyzing a situation, mobilizing grassroots support, building coalitions, developing a campaign strategy, and using the media. Participants will return to their Member Organizations with new skills, prepared to advocate for important issues in their country.
Advocacy Seminar: Voices Raised for Peace
September 6 - 12, 2008 (7 days)
Explore the interwoven topics of peace and communication in this bilingual French / English event. Come together with leaders from around the world to share what is happening in your part of the globe. Learn how even at an individual level you too can make a difference.

Advocacy Seminar: HIV/AIDS in Today’s World, December 2 -8, 2007. My greatest passion is AIDS. It is where my heart is and what I am giving help since a couple of years ago.I want my lifestyle coincide with what I say I am passionate about. which is why I am heavly involved in AIDS related activities where I live and started an organization to help peopele. wanted to join the the seminar to gain more experience. Thanks
