Muslim Girl's Orphanage
The Muslim Girls Orphanage was established in 1925 with the aim of providing an institution for the maintenance and education of orphaned Muslim girls. Girls aged 5-25 live at the orphanage and are provided with board, education, medical care and religious instruction. The residents only leave the orphanage they reach a certain age or marry.
The institution is divided in three areas: The Polytechnic, the Orphanage and the School. Service is required in both the Orphanage and the Polytechnic. The polytechnic trains women in the fields of Beauty Culture, English Language, Mehendi, Book Binding, Tailoring (ladies and children’s garments), Embroidery and Fancy Stitching, Advanced Fashion Design and Cookery and Catering. Sessions of crafts, games and songs or other creative activities are most welcome at the orphanage. There are about 168 girls aged 6 to 15/16 years old.
