Cultural events provide an introduction to Indian culture through traditional food, dress, arts and to a community partner. Activities include eating Indian food and learning customs, greetings and useful words in Hindi, saree shopping and tailors and visiting a community partner site.
Additional activities may include joining in activities with a community partner, visiting a historical site, learning Indian crafts, trying Bollywood dance or watching Khatak dancing. Each event is different and provides a great introduction to life in India!
Event title: Essence of India
7 or 10 day event
Cultural events introduce you to India and cultural similarities and differences. Your event will provide opportunities international exchange with other participants and also with locals.
Event title: Discover your potential
10 or 12 day event
A ‘Discover your potential’ event will give you plenty of opportunities for intercultural learning as you will be part of a community action project to support Sangam and the local community in Pune.
Through collaboration with our community partners and at Sangam join in projects such as gardening, painting, delivering a children’s camp, or providing a swimming and games day. Community action events make a real difference to the lives of people in Pune. Work hard each day and relax after a challenging day’s work while enjoying Indian cultural activities.
Seven-day seminar
Intense seven-day seminars provide training and information sharing using informal education methods of Girl Guiding and Girl Scouting and building on local resources. Learn more about WAGGGS advocacy and community action at Sangam while discovering Indian culture. Seminars typically have diverse, international participants including representatives of Bharat Scouts and Guides from across India. Check each seminar description for more detailed information.
Active members of WAGGGS aged 18+ who would like to extend their knowledge in the seminar topic through international exchange, learning guided by facilitators and field visits are welcome to Sangam. You will be ready to take action once you return home to develop your organization.
