I first visited Sangam in October 2001 as a participant in a Guides Australia Four World Centres Tour. So yes I am from Australia! It was a life changing experience, obviously, which led to me being appointed and returning as Centre Manager in October 2002.
Prior to this appointment, I was a Brownie leader and trainer, Division and Region Commissioner and State Special Needs Advisor. I have been involved in Guiding one way or another all my life, as my mother and grandmother were also leaders for most of their adult lives! To continue on actually working for the World Association is an amazing opportunity in such a diverse and quixotic country! In my professional life I was previously a Corporate Banker.
At home in Australia, I have 3 adult daughters and four grandchildren, all living in the Snowy Mountains area of NSW, Australia and in Canberra not far from there. I am able to go home and visit at least once a year, but do miss them very much – about the only downside to being in India!
I see it as a very great privilege to be serving this organization and having the responsibility of developing young women as responsible citizens of the world. I really enjoy meeting so many different people from all over the world – life is never dull at Sangam! I hope to be able to stay on here for a few years yet!
